Gaisano Mall's Toyplay 2010

I must admit Toyplay 2010 was a quick event but despite that my friends and I had a blast cosplaying in that event. I didn’t plan to cosplay in this event since it fell on Nov. 1 (All Soul’s Day) and my family had already planned to go to the cemetery to visit our dead family and relatives. Eventually and suprisingly, my family cancelled that and thus, I decided to cosplay instead.(gah~ 3 days of cosplay…fuuuaaa~~@_@)

I had been informed that there was a competition and I was invited to join it. Mitch, my friend and neighbour went at the mall together and we cosplayed Gakupo (me) and Luka (mitch) of the Sandplay version to make more “holoweenish”. I was sssooooooo happy that finally, I have a partner for my Gakupo Sandplay cosplay! Yay!!! To make it even better Shoti (shutterpuppy photography) was there to take shots at our Sandplay Cosplay. It was also cool to see Marvin again. We missed him so much since the time he went back to Manila to work. He had a shoot with Shoti too with his Kamen Rider armor.

Here are some that Shoti took during our rooftop “invasion” at G-mall.

We also had a shoot with Loreen’s team in her mini studio booth. It was nice to meet new people and new photographers there. I’m hoping that they would have booths like these in the near future. I know that Shoti and I would’ve loved that too.

(Thanks to Errol for this picture)

Minutes later the event started. There were a lot of participants both old (from the MCS events) and new. Basically, the competition was just walk-in with a distinct characterization and poses. I didn’t expect anything from that contest but I was still hoping to win because I heard the prizes where quite worth it.

By the end of the event, The winners were announced and my friend Ping-ping won first prize! I was rooting for her too! Congrats Ping! (Hopeful wishes came true? Ei ei ei~~ ahahaha). I won the 2nd prize and the Halo cosplayer (sorry~~ I don’t know who was inside that costume but I was amazed with the similarities it had from the game…The blinking lights gah!) won the 3rd Prize .

(grabbed these photos from one of the audience but I can't remember who~ T^T.
Do comment below if you're the owner of these pics so that i can credit you also. Thank you!)

True to their word, the prizes that we had were really great!!! And I must admit that it was really put into good use for my Singapore trip. Somehow joining this competition helped me a lot for my trip abroad and I give a lot of thanks to the organizers and sponsors for that!!!

Thank you for all the support guys and congratulations to all!!!

Super Late Post: Mindanao Cosplay Summit (MCS) 2010

OMO! Another late post! 4 months late!~ @_@ LOL~ B-lated Happy New Year and Valentine's Day every one!

A friendly reminder, again I am not a good writer so please bare with my writing skills.

Anyways, Mindanao Cosplay Summit 2010 or MCS X. Mcs, has always been a “traditional” cosplay event here in Davao City, Philippines. It’s one of the biggest cosplay events since some of the sponsors are Japanese or are from Japan. The past MCS event were totally great and quite fulfilling. 2010’s MCS though wasn’t all that dandy but It was still fun to migle with friends and with the crowd itself. I do notice that sponsors are tight this year but hey!!! there might some reasons for it. I guess what’s important is the happiness of those who truly had their first cosplay or cosplay competitions and to those who really had fun with their companions during the event.

The first day of MCS was like a matsuri (Japanese festival). I did enjoy watching my friends catch tons of fish with a rice paper. I also enjoyed the toy stalls like the ANAHEIM for their wonderful merchandises and owners (aka my best of friends. Bert and Reida) who gave cool guessing games and gave off prizes.

Probably the best moment for me during the event was seeing my partner in his Crossplay as Stella Nox Fleuret of Final Fantasy XIII Vesurs. Did I mention He?..yes, that’s a HE. So think skimpy skirt with oozing “sexyness” and sweet facial features. Better yet, enjoy the pictures below~ lalalaaaah~~~

He's prettier and sexier than me!!! **OTL**

Here we are sooooo in love with each other~ LOL I kid I kid.
He is so purdee~ XD

Here are also some cool cosplays and great shots taken by photographer and my best friend Dennis “Shoti” Li during the first day of MCS 2010. There isn’t much pictures that he took but these are just some of the people that he/we enjoyed to taking a shot of.

Do check out his new FB page also. He has shots that are non-cosplay related too~ ^^

My crossplay partner and I also joined the crossplay event during that day. Should I say it was dramatic? Hahaha . Even though I was serious with my acting I can’t help but just laugh inside out of too much cheezyness and imaging my guy partner having a girly sweet voice was just too much! LOL LOL and more LOLS!

Here are on-stage shots from Nico Caballo (thank you for taking these pics~ ^3^). This is on still Day 1.

We were feeling it people!!!feeling it!!! XD hahaha
btw, we switch voices with the dubbing on this one. XD

and here we have Enxio being busted with his real voice. A deep and manly voice behind that girly sexiness that he has. (gewsh~ I can't help laughing with the crowd on this one!~ This was so epic I must say~ :3)

More Day 1 shots! XD

Ze Dorama on stage~ hehehe I love this shot by the way~
thanks to Diego Sevilla on this one~

One of the shots that I adore. I love the shadows and silhouette.

I must admit I have to love Jack at the same time hate him.

Now for Day 2...

Day 2 was such a busy day for me. It was the first time that I arrived late on an MCS event but t’was okay~ I was helping out with the make –up of my group. It was the first time that I had to do make up on 8-10 people in a span of 2 hours. We had to prepare our costumes at the same time too. It was new to me to go to MCS as a whole group which was pretty much cool. I didn’t see much of MCS Day 2 ‘coz as I said before we arrived late. I did see some awesome and astonishing cosplay during the event though I did wished that I could’ve seen more. They had shut the lights of the event hall so that everyone could see the effect on stage. So, it wasn’t really a condusive environment or the photographers like my friend Shoti.

Some of the members in my group join the solo and pair category. I belonged to the group category with my other mates. Oh yes~ I joined another contest…hording much? I just wanna join with my friends with their group cosplays and enjoy the competition with them.

Here are some of my groupmate joining a different category. Go Team Pahak!

While waiting for our turn Shoti and I hunted for a good place to have a shoot. Luckily we did find one! We had to utilize the God given natural light and set at that time. It was so much fun to have a shoot with my friends. We were really wacked since most people starred at us and our craziness but heck, we were having fun~ So, we really didn’t care that much.

Yes...we are bored..XD haha

Here are some shots that Shoti took of my cosplay. I cosplayed as Raimi Aikawa from Dolls [Naked Ape].

And here are Some cool shots that Shoti took from our “hunted” set and some awesome cosplays that we saw on the event.

Finally, It was our turn on stage! I was feeling a nervous. Well, I always am especially when there are big crowds but I try to manage my nervousness by shouting stupidly backstage. Anyways,I did my best on stage though I think that we totally lack a lot of things during our performance. We did make some blunders but like I said we did our best. I saw the performance from the other group and they did superbly on stage. Some made me gasp and some made me laugh a lot. It was really fun and entertaining. I really can see that they put every ounce of effort with their performance and cosplay, Tons of congratulations to everyone!!!

Here are some on stage pictures .

Just before the event ended, they announced the winners and hoorah!!! My crossplay partner and I won the crossplay competition!!! The cheezy “dorama” paid off my lovely butt protruding friend!!! LOL!

I didn’t get to hear the other winners since I was talking to some of my companions that time but I did hear the winners of the pair and group category.

Here we have the winner for the pair category~

Phew~ Well, I guess that’s it for now guys. I got sooooo tired right after the event. Days of no sleep and practices. I do admit I was over fatigued. It was tiring but fun. Ah yes~ One of the perks of being a cosplayer. Good Day to all!!!
