Last July 18,2010, Shoti, Duane and I conducted a workshop for the coplay enthusiasts in Davao city. Duane invited me and Shoti to do this workshop to help out our fellow cosplayers here. A number of people have also questioned me about make-up and costumes so, I agreed to have this workshop with Duane.
I was so stressed at that time making the powerpoint presentation and researching stuffs that are needed for this workshop. I even had a thick face for asking some international and nationwide cosplayers, most especially the well-respected Tuxedo Team ‘s Kat and to my beloved friend Yuu Shomura. I asked them about their thoughts and ideas about cosplay. I tried to ask permission to use some of their tutorials too. I did tweak it up a bit to put an ounce of my opinion, ideas and insights about the hobby which I have grown to love. I honesty was tired during the preparation week because I had an “advant garde” and cosplay photohoot coming up too. So much for good skin care…TT^TT.
I didn’t expect that a lot of people will be going to this workshop. I just expecting a number of 10 people I guess. That’s why I gave my sincere thank you to the people who had attended COSWORKS. I really do appreciate the time and effort that you gave. I also thank you for the questions that you raised which not only helped you as a cosplayer but also to us the speakers. THANK YOU GUYS n GALS!!!
The wonderful people who attended the workshop
and here I am playing with my guinea pig.
Just Kidding~ ^3^ I'm actually teaching them the proper way to put a wig and wignet.
Here are some of the topics that we tackled:
(By the way, the ideas that we raised in this workshop are not absolute. These are usually based on our experiences as cosplayers and as artists. Everyone is still entitled to do their own style and way of making their costumes, doing make-up and etc.)
- Characterization
- Cosplay Manner and Cosplay kits.
- Proper wig care and styling.
- Using contact Lenses.
- Cosplay Make-up
- How to find the right textile for your costume
- Basic Props making (Duane’s forte ^^)
I hope the attendees learned a lot! I thank everyone once again for helping us make this workshop as success.
Photos are taken by Shoti.
